When you apply for a professional course or a job, there is usually an entrance test or an interview. The idea is to weed out the weak and unfit candidates and select the best.

God has an entrance exam of a different kind. It doesn’t seek to weed out the weak but to welcome everyone. All that is required is that you accept the invitation. Paul, writing to the Ephesians reminds us that all have been called – some as apostles, others evangelists - so that everyone builds up the body of Christ.

The first part of the Gospel depicts Jesus as walking toward Matthew’s desk at the custom’s house and inviting Matthew in very simple terms – “Follow me.” And immediately Matthew follows him! In the second part, Jesus explains his mission is to call sinners, and that means He calls you and me too! Are you willing to let go of everything to follow Him?
